Tate Modern is an international modern art gallery in London set on the south of the River Thames just across the Millenium Bridge.

Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the name behind the Battersea Power Station in 1947, the Tate Modern only opened its doors as a museum in 2000. With its strong and industrial exterior, this former power station welcomes around 4.7 million visitors every year with a collection of modern and contemporary art from all over the world dating back to the 1900s, and closer to home, British art from the 1500s.
The spectacular Turbine Hall, spread across 5 levels 3,400 square metres of floorspace, really brings to life the enormous scale of the building with several galleries and exhibition spaces on each floor. Works of art include peices by masters like Picasso, Matisse, Dali, Pollock & Rothko as well as major peices from collections of Warhol, Lichtenstein, Naum Gabo and Giacometti.
The Museum is part of the Tate Groupthat also features the Tate Britain, Tate St Ives & Tate Liverpool.
