Wimbledon Common covers around 1140 acres of open land with heath, woodland, streams and ponds and lies towards the south west of London near Putney.

The common is home to a wide variety of wildlife, birds and insects and has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a European Special Conservation. The Wimbledon village situated on the edge of the common, has a rural feel with an eclectic mix of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

The Wimbledon Common, though not an official park, has numerous nature trails, foothpaths, cycle paths and horse rides alongside bogs and brambles and also features a golf course and a windmill, which was converted into a museum.

There are also plenty of sporting activites on offer like cricket, rugby, football, golf, horse-riding, walking, football, children's play, cricket, model boating, outdoor swimming and courting.
