How to get the best deal for London serviced apartments

Stay during Off-peak times

If you are looking to spend less, then it is best not to book during the Summer season, bank holidays (Christmas, Easter, May Bank Holiday, August Bank Holiday) and instead travel during off-peak periods.

It is also advisable to be aware of major event dates of the year like Wimbledon, World Travel Market, Fashion Weeks as not only do the rates go up but you will find many serviced apartments getting booked up in advance with limited or no availability.
 

Share an apartment

Apartments range from studios to five bedrooms and if you are travelling as a group, you will certainly find it much cheaper to share the costs between you rather than to stay in seperate hotel rooms.

Stay longer

Serviced apartments offer longer stay discounts so the longer you stay the less you pay on a nightly basis. You can get discounts of upto 30% on the nightly rate for stays over 28 nights.

VAT discounts

Most serviced apartments offer a VAT reduction after the 28th night of a continous stay. This would work out as 20% VAT for the first 28 nights and 4% VAT for the 29th night onwards (Check current VAT rates here)

What is the difference between a serviced and an unserviced apartment?

Unserviced apartments, private rentals and vacation rentals or holiday homes are sometimes unpredictable and cannot offer the same levels of service, security, amenities and convenience as fully serviced apartments as they are often let by unverified private landlords.

  • Suitable for sharing professionals, families or groups

  • Interiors will reflect host's individual style and have their belongings present.
  • More storage space available compared to hotel rooms however cupboards may be filled with host's persona belongings.
  • Extra beds, baby cots, high chairs usually not available
  • Usually not accessible or wheelchair friendly
  • Cancellation notice varies from 24 hours to 30 days and cancellation charges may apply
  • A security deposit may be taken on arrival to cover against incidentals
  • Usually no VAT applies to these properties
  • Managed by private individuals and private landlords
